With the 2025-26 Avalon Raceway season having come to a close with the completion of the Diggers Cup meeting back on April 18, it has been all systems go over recent months with regards to the 2026-27 season, which promises to be one of the biggest and busiest yet for Avalon Raceway.
As always the Annual Avalon Raceway Swap Meet will welcome in the new season, with this season’s opening event scheduled for Sunday August 23, 2026.
Following that, a brand-new season consisting of 20 nights of competition, catering for 17 different race divisions, as well as cameo’s from The Outlaw Karts and Go-Karts along with a one-off Demolition Derby!
The first of two mid-week practice nights (Wednesday October 7, 2026 & Wednesday, November 25, 2026) will be held prior to the opening night of competition.
Management and the Drew Family, may explore the potential for more of these, should demand warrant their inclusion more regularly.
The season proper itself will kick off Saturday October 10, 2026, with the Wingless Sprints 50 Lapper, to commemorate 50 Years of Racing at Avalon Raceway! Speedcars and Street Stocks will also be on the program.
The 410 Sprintcars will make the first of eight appearances throughout the season when the opening round of the 2026-27 Sprintcar Track Championship doubles as the Sprintcar Jackpot Invitational on Saturday October 24, 2026.
The Sprintcars then return on Saturday November 7, before returning on Friday December 11, 2026 for the Routley’s Bakery Fireball Derby in their final pre-Christmas appearance.
Boxing Day (December 26, 2026) will see the traditional Sprintcar Gold Cup contested before all eyes turn to December 30 for Sprintcar Speedweek action.
The Penrite Oil Sprintcar President’s Cup is again slated as the traditional start to “Classic week” with all the action taking place at Avalon Raceway on Wednesday January 20, 2027, with Street Stocks providing the support cast on what promises to be yet another amazing installment in history of this event!
From a Sprintcar perspective a short hiatus is enjoyed, before the Daimler Trucks Great Southern Showdown on Saturday March 13, which doubles as the seventh and penultimate round of the Track Championship before Friday March 26, 2027 (Good Friday) sees the final round and the opening night of the 2027 Easter Sprintcar Trail come to life at Avalon Raceway.
Aside from all of the Sprintcar Action, not one but two Australian Championships highlight the calendar!
The first is the Aero6Four Racing Products Australian Formula 500 Championship as presented by Jettco Developments and Penrite Oil.
This most prestigious of all Formula 500 weekends, will commence with Practice and a Calcutta on Thursday January 7, 2027 before two nights of non-stop action on Friday January 8 and Saturday, January 9, 2027.
A huge field of Formula 500’s is expected for this event, with the date as scheduled set to flow directly on from their annual Speedweek Tournament.
The second Australian Championship of the season comes in the form of the Australian 360-LS Sprintcar Championship as presented by C&H Trucking and Dirt X Industries which will be contested over two nights of competition on April 2 and 3, 2027.
A Practice night and Calcutta will also take place on Thursday April 1, 2027.
Pre-Christmas a number of the other traditional Avalon Feature events, such as the Modified Sedans West Coast Classic (November 28, 2026), the Speedcar Barry Power Classic (November 28, 2026) and the Quest Geelong Central Christmas Spectacular featuring 360-LS Sprintcars, V8 Dirt Modifieds and Street Stocks (December 19, 2026) are all returning to the schedule.
The annual Formula 500 Speedweek Series featuring both Senior and Junior competition along with Compact Speedcars is also back on Monday December 28, 2026.
As we move into 2027, the Super Sedan K-Rock Cup is scheduled for Saturday January 2, along with a proposed Demo Derby and Super Rods.
A new addition to the calendar will be on Saturday February 6, 2027 when the Late Model East Coast Tour makes its debut appearance at Avalon Raceway, with the Wingless Sprints Super Series scheduled for a week later on Saturday February 13, 2027.
